We know very well that job hunting is not easy. First, you spend time writing or updating your CV, then you search through different portals or websites, and when you find the job offer that best fits you, you apply.
At that point, you’re already part of the selection process, which has several phases—and that’s when the nerves kick in. That’s why knowing the stages usually included in a hiring process, and how long they take, can help candidates approach their job search more calmly.
Here are the stages and approximate response times:
After application: Usually between 7 and 10 days, although sometimes you may hear back sooner. Keep in mind that dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of applications may be received for each vacancy. Don’t assume that if you don’t hear back immediately, they’re not interested. You always have the right to follow up after a reasonable amount of time.
Presentation of your application to the final company: After your interview with us, consultants prepare a detailed report of our meeting. Within 2 to 4 days we present it to the hiring manager, highlighting every detail of your background and profile.
Interview with the company: On average, it takes 5 to 7 days before the consultant contacts you to confirm whether the company wants to meet you.
After the company interview: This phase usually has the shortest waiting time. Companies normally provide feedback about interviewed candidates within 7 days.
In summary, from the time you apply until you receive a final response, it can take 3 to 4 weeks. The timeframe may be shorter or longer depending on the urgency of the role or the number of candidates.
Tips for your next application:
Be flexible and understanding with the timelines. If the process is managed through a consultancy like ours, you’ll always receive feedback on your application.
If specific deadlines are given for decision-making, respect them. Once the deadline has passed, you can call or email for an update.
Recruitment processes can be stressful, so it’s important to stay calm and confident. Find activities that help you relax and keep a positive mindset.
Lastly, don’t give up if you’re not selected. Stay positive and keep pursuing the opportunity you want. And if in the end the position becomes yours, you’ll see that the wait was worth it.
